MISSION:
Lead a collaborative effort in Greene County to improve animal welfare, promote accountability in pet ownership, and reduce animal overpopulation.

In September 2007 a group of individuals from local animal welfare agencies began meeting to discuss ways we could partner with Springfield-Greene County Animal Control to address animal welfare issues. The result is SAAF: Springfield Animal Advocacy Foundation.
We dream of a day when homes will be found for all adoptable and treatable animals in southwest Missouri. No-kill by 2018 - that is our goal. No-kill does not mean warehousing animals and does not mean that no animals are euthanized, since there will always be instances when euthanasia is required due to aggression, illness or injury.
Our goal of no-kill can be accomplished through three strategies: reduce the number of animals coming into Animal Control, increase adoptions, and educate the public about animal welfare issues. With that in mind, our efforts are focused in three areas:

Rather than taking in more animals and building more space to shelter them, the animal organizations in the Ozarks have chosen to implement proactive programs that will save money and spare the lives of homeless animals.
